The clamping strap (3') can be forced downwards to clamp the workpiece (1) on to the table (2) by tightening the nut (17) or actuating the hydraulic cylinder (24) to exert an upwards force on the clamping strip through the height adjusting nut (8). To prevent the strap (3') from dropping when the clamp is released and the work is removed, a U-shaped spring wire clip (13) is seated in a circumferential groove (11) of the height adjusting nut with the fork ends of the clip bearing against the underside of the clamping strap. The spring clip exerts an upwards force supporting the weight of the clamping strap, but as well the frictional grip of the clip in the groove (11) prevents unwanted rotation of the height adjusting nut (8). USE/ADVANTAGE - Clamping strap is properly supported by clip irrespective of height adjustment. Simple, compact design with no loose parts.
