A process for decoloring a fatty acid ester and a food or¹cosmetic composition containing the ester

In order to decolour a highly coloured fatty acid ester intended for food or cosmetic use which it is not possible to decolour satisfactorily for the envisaged applications by conventional decolourising, a fatty acid ester in solution in a nonpolar solvent is made to pass through a column charged with a mixture of montmorillonite, silica gel and/or active charcoal.
