PURPOSE: To improve the cutting quality by supplying assist gas to a thermic cutter in the form of pulses at a prescribed frequency. CONSTITUTION: A nozzle 4 for an assist gas supplying system is formed in a thermic cutter around a laser beam 4 concentrically with the beam. The nozzle 4 is connected to pressurized oxygen in an assist gas source by a conduit means 6, and a controller 8 by means of a solenoid valve and an expansion chamber 10 for adjusting the assist gas source are provided in the conduit means 6. When a cutting operation is executed, assist gas is supplied to the thermic cutter in the form of pulses at a prescribed frequency. Thus, excellent cutting quality is obtained. |
