PURPOSE:To enhance fuel suction efficiency while securing cutting of fuel so as to achieve a high speed and a large displacement of a fuel injection pump by sucking fuel from a fuel inlet/outlet port of a plunger under a normal operating condition while opening the fuel inlet/outlet port in a forcibly feeding stroke at the time of cutting of the fuel. CONSTITUTION:A forcibly feeding chamber 9 is defined by the inner wall of a cylinder 7 and the tip end of a plunger 1, which is reciprocated inside of the cylinder 7. Fuel is forcibly fed to cylinders after suction into the forcibly feeding chamber 9 by reciprocating motion of the plunger 1. A fuel inlet/outlet port 25 for communicating the forcibly feeding chamber 9 with a fuel supply source is formed on the outer periphery of the plunger 1. Furthermore, a control ring 30 for opening or closing the fuel inlet/outlet port 25 with respect to the fuel supply source is disposed on the outer periphery of the plunger 1. The control ring 30 is driven by a driving means via a rod 40. The fuel inlet/outlet port 25 is opened at the time of suction of the plunger 1 under a normal operating condition and forcibly feeding of the plunger 1 in the case of cutting of the fuel. |
