PURPOSE: To comfortably mount the belt retractor of the safety belt system in a vehicle by relieving a tensile force. CONSTITUTION: An auxiliary spring 42 is connected parallel to a retracting spring 30 but with opposite effect, the outer end thereof is connected to the outer periphery of a ratchet wheel 38 to be selectively locked by a pawl, and the inner end thereof is connected through an overrunning clutch 44 to a shaft 36 non-rotatably connected to a belt spool 22. The overrunning clutch 44 permits a relative rotation between the end of the auxiliary spring 42 and the belt spool 22 only in the unwinding direction of the belt spool. |
