Method for enhancing geophysical data by nonlinear compression of the dynamic range

The present invention provides an improved method of processing and displaying geophysical data so as to enhance the evaluation and interpretation of subtle variations in the earth's geological and lithological structures. In particular, the dynamic range of geophysical data is compressed to more nearly approximate the inherent dynamic range limitations of visual displays of the geophysical data.
