PURPOSE: To constitute to reduce a required space by sequentially measuring a length of a rod-shaped product rapidly with high operation certainty for a plurality of products without interval, simultaneously effectively identifying product types, and further simplifying a structure of an apparatus. CONSTITUTION: A length measuring apparatus includes a manually measuring device 22 that is operated with ultrasonic beam or an optical beam directed onto a wall 25 in a region of a stopper 21 for a rod-shaped product rear end face and easy to transport. The device has a protrusion 23 constituted as a stopper in the form of an abutment for placement against a front end face 24 of a workpiece 20. The device is coupled with a computer 14 by way of a data exchange device which provides information about the length and type of the workpiece. A length value of the workpiece determined by the device are fed into the computer 14 by actuation of an operating keyboard 28 of the device. |
