PURPOSE: To prepare a molluscicide capable of exterminating slugs and snails by using a fungal microorganism having molluscicidal activities. CONSTITUTION: A molluscicidal fungal microorganism adversely affecting a growth behavior, mobility, productivity and/or viability of slugs and snails at the time of contact and ingestion, preferably the fungal microorganism from the family Moliniaceae, especially the genus Gliocladium or Verticillium is applied to kill slugs and snails. New Gliocladium nigrovirens FO463 (CBS-457.91) and Gliocladium solani FO463 (CBS-458.91) are especially suitable as the fungal microorganism species. The fungal microorganism is effective in exterminating terrestrial slugs and snails, but effective against important, noxious and aquatic snails (e.g. the genera Pomacea and Ampullarius). |
