PURPOSE: To provide a mechanism for temporarily converting the idle front wheel of a bicycle into a driving wheel. CONSTITUTION: A mechanism for converting the idle front wheel of a bicycle into a driving wheel comprises a lever 5 hinged in front of a frame of the bicycle, a handlebar E fixed to a top of the lever 5, a stopping means 11 formed at the top of a steering column F of the bicycle, a catch 14 provided at the lever E and engaged with or disengaged from the means 11, a free wheel 8 provided coaxial with the front wheel, a chain 7 for rotating the free wheel, a return spring 12 for locking one end of the chain 7, a branch 5a extended ahead of a pivotal shaft of the lever 5 and connected to the other end of the chain 7, and control means 16, 17 provided at the lever E to operate the catch 14. |
