PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strength by dispersing a fibrous material with the surface coated with a copolymer contg. a monomer shown by a specified formula in an aq. slurry of CaSiO3, forming the slurry and drying the formed body. CONSTITUTION:A glycidyl polyalkylene oxide derivative shown by formula I (R<1> is H or <=20C alkyls, R<2> is H or CH3, and (n) is 1 to 40), a diamine shown by formula II (R<3> is <=15C alkyls) and an dicarboxylic acid shown by formula III (R<4> is <=15C alkyls, a monocyclic or bicyclic aromatic ring) are mixed and heated to obtain a copolymer contg. 10-30wt.% of the component shown by formula I. A fibrous material is impregnated with an aq. soln. of the copolymer and coated with 0.5-20wt.% of the copolymer, and then <=30wt.% of the coated fibrous material is dispersed in an aq. slurry of CaSiO3 contg. <=10wt.% solid and contg. a carboxylated SBR, the dispersion is formed, and the formed body is dried to obtain a fiber-reinforced CaSiO3 formed body excellent in mechanical strength. |
