PURPOSE:To obtain a CO cleaning catalyst showing its high activity even at low temp. by dipping a hardened carrier contg. lime aluminate, activated carbon and K2CO3 in an aq. soln. of platinum group metal salts and reducing the salts with NaBH4. CONSTITUTION:About 70-80 wt% of water is added to a mixt. consisting of 10-50 wt% of activated carbon, 5-15 wt% of K2CO3 and the balance lime aluminate, followed by kneading. The kneaded material is granulated by extrusion molding, etc., dried, and hardened to prepare a catalyst carrier. This carrier is dipped in an aq. soln. of salts of catalyst metals, Pt and/or pd, e.g. chloroplatinic acid and palladium chloride, and the salts in the soln. heated to 89-100 deg.C are reduced with NaBH4 as a reducing agent. The carrier is then washed and dried to obtain a desired CO cleaning catalyst. The pH of the soln. is adjusted to 10- 12 at the time of the reduction. |
