MODIFIER FOR THERMOPLASTIC SYNTHETIC POLYMER AND POLYMER COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject modifier which can impart excellent permanent antistatic properties to a thermoplastic synthetic polymer without detriment to its inherent properties by incorporating a specified polyether polyester. CONSTITUTION:The objective modifier comprises a polyether polyester comprising dicarboxylic acid units (A) consisting of 60-100mol% phosphoniumsulfoisophthalate units (X) of the formula (wherein R<1> to R<4> are each a 1-18 C aliphatic hydrocarbon group, an aromatic hydrocarbon group, aralkyl or alkylaryl) and 40-0mol% dicarboxylic acid units selected from among aliphatic and aromatic dicarboxylic acid units (e.g. terephthalic acid units) and polyoxyalkylene diol units (B) containing at least 50mol% oxyethylene units (Y) as the oxyalkylene unit (e.g. polyethylene glycol) and diol units derived from a 2-20C dihydric alcohol (e.g. polyethylene glycol). The molar ratio of X in A to Y in B is 1/5 to 1/35.
