PURPOSE: To prevent a short circuit of a thin film transistor from appearing as a short circuit between a data line and a select line. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal element 11 is brought under the ON/OFF control of the thin film transistor 12. The source of the thin film transistor 12 is connected to the data line 14 by a conductor 20 and its drain is connected to the liquid crystal element 11 by a conductor 21. The gate of the thin film transistor 12 is connected to the select line 13 by a high resistance 22.
