PURPOSE:To obtain an image having a high image density and a high resolving power by imparting release action to either one of a thermal transfer ink component and a porous resin component with respect to the other component and imparting specific characteristics to the recording surface of a transfer medium. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording medium is formed by providing a thermal transfer ink layer based on a thermal transfer ink component based on a colorant and a hot-melt substance and a porous resin component on a support. By heating at least the same part of the thermal transfer recording medium, the same part of the thermal transfer ink layer is transferred to a transfer medium two or more times. In this case, release action is imparted to either one of the thermal transfer ink component and the porous resin component with respect to the other component. Further, the transfer medium is formed so as to have a recording surface set to the range of 2.0-6.0 in the product of an absorption factor measured by a Bristol method using reagent first-class liquid paraffin and the inclination of the straight part of the load curve of a surface calculated by three-dimensional surface roughness analysis. |
