PURPOSE:To obtain a stable and a high density current by covering around carbonate particles with scandium oxide, and spreading over the scandium oxide on the interface with a base material and between the carbonate particles evenly and at a specific amount. CONSTITUTION:A ternary carbonate (Ba, Ca, Sr) CO3 is made from nitrates of Ba, Ca, and Sr, in an ammonium method and a soda method. To the produced carbonate particles 1, an Sc2O3 membrane is covered by a sputtering. In this case, the dissolution of the Sc2O3 is prevented by an adequate O2 partial pressure. Then, the particles are mixed with a binder such as nitrocellulose, and they are used to cover thin a base metal 3. When a cathode in such a constitution is assembled in an electron tube and operated, the resistance of the oxide layer is reduced, because a specific amount of Sc2O3 is presented on the interface with the base metal 3 and between the carbonate particles. And the generation of an intermediate layer is suppressed during the operation, and a stable high current density operation can be maintained for a long time. |
