PURPOSE: To provide an active matrix color liquid crystal display device of a large size and high resolution which is rapidly producible and is hardly affected by the outside world. CONSTITUTION: While R, G, B color filters and black matrices are heretofore formed on a substrate separate from a substrate including pixel electrodes and TFTs with the conventional element, these color filters and the black matrices are formed on the same substrate 2 with this novel type element. The R, G, B color filters and black matrices are first formed on the first substrate 2 and the TFTs consisting of a transparent insulating layer, pixelelectrode layer 10, aluminum layer 32, silicon nitride layer 34, aluminum layer 36, a transparent insulating layer 20 and an oriented film 22 are formed thereon. Counter electrodes 28 and an oriented film 29 are formed on the second substrate 4. The alignment of the pixel electrodes 10, the color filters, the TFTs and the black matrices are correctly and rapidly executed and the relative positional misalignment by a temp. change is averted. |
