PURPOSE:To measure the amount of dampening water supplied without the influence of an image pattern on a plate surface or properties of ink to always conduct proper supply of dampening water. CONSTITUTION:A metal roller 6 for measuring water content is opposedly brought into contact with a form dampening roller 5, which is disposed opposedly in contact with a plate surface held on a plate cylinder 2. The moisture content on the surface of the metal roller 6 is measured by an infrared moisture meter 12. In a control part 13, the measured result is arithmetically compared with a predetermined reference moisture content, and the amount of water supplied by a water supply spray 10 is so controlled that the measured result coincides with the reference moisture content. In this manner, the moisture content on the plate surface is not directly measured but indirectly measured by measuring the moisture content on the metal roller 6 having a correlation with the moisture content. Therefore, the moisture content can be correctly measured without the influence of an image pattern on the plate surface or properties of ink. |
