PURPOSE:To provide the optical amplifier repeater able to measure the SNR of the optical amplifier repeater in service with respect to the optical amplifier repeater employing an erbium dope fiber. CONSTITUTION:A signal/noise sum detection section 500 obtains (S+N) and a signal detection section 700 obtains an S component. Or the signal/noise sum detection section 500 obtains (S+N) and after a main signal block section blocks an S component, a noise detection section obtains an N component. Or the signal detection section 700 obtains the S component and the main signal block section and the noise detection section obtain the N component. Or the signal detection section 700 obtains the S component and the noise detection section obtains the N component. Or 1st and 2nd signal/noise sum detection sections at the input and the output of an optical band pass filter obtain respectively (S+N) (V5) and (S+N) (V6). Or the signal detection section 700 at the output of the optical amplifier section 100 obtains the S component and the noise detection section at the input side obtains the N component by a natural radiation light emitter from an optical amplifier section 100.
