PURPOSE:To reduce the man-hour of index preparation and to eliminate an error by automatically generating an index of a collected document. CONSTITUTION:A document preparing and correcting means 3 which takes document data as the input from an input device for document data input and prepares and corrects the document, an index key register means 1 which stores arbitrary character strings as items of the index while preparing the document by the document preparing and correcting means 3 and transposes them in the order to the Japanese syllabary or in alphabetical order, and an index generating means 2 which retrieves which page of the generated document the key registered by the index key register means 1 appears in to generate the index, and an index key is designated by an input device 6, and the index is automatically generated by the index generating means 2. Thus, page error or omission is prevented, and the man-hour of new preparation or change of the index is drastically reduced. |
