The main ceiling of the supporting structure rests on uprights or walls. It supports the cold-rolled girders(1) forming the auxiliary ceiling. These girders are of hat-shaped cross-section open towards the main ceiling(2). Its flanges(10) are symmetrically situated in relation to its vertical central plane, and first converge towards each other, then running at right angles to the main ceiling. There can be ribs(12) protruding outwards at the free edges of the flanges. The central web(8) can have a rib protruding towards the inside, its depth being a multiple of the thickness of the metal. USE/ADVANTAGE - Building structure opposes tendency of girders to tilt or twist about their lengthwise axes.
