Exhaust gas treatment device, particularly for heavy vehicle engines, having a treatment element in a housing with an inlet diffuser which possesses an inlet for the exhaust gases and an insert for conditioning the gas flow, novel in that the insert consists of turbulence promoters (9) arranged along the inside of the inlet housing (2). USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple means of providing small scale vortex-shedding diffusor upstream of the inlet face of the treatment element, and the use of a conical inlet connection to the treatment element.
