The ball notch contains a locking ball (17) engaging a recess in a gear lever and in contact with the bearing bodies (15) in a cup-shaped opening (14) in an axially movable inner element and with a thin-walled, flanged end (13). The end region of the cup-shaped opening with its flanging simultaneously holds the bearing bodies and locking ball. The dia. of the flanged part (18) of the end region is less than that of the locking ball. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for the gear lever of a motor vehicle gearbox. The ball notch has minimised component and assembly costs.
