<p>A novel compound, 1,1,1,2,2,5,5,5-octafluoropentane, which is promising as a substitute for CFC, HCFC and the like now in use as refrigerant, blowing agent, detergent or solvent; and a process for producing the same economically and industrially in a high yield with high selectivity, which comprises hydrogenating decafluoropentene-2 with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst such as a platinum catalyst.</p> |
