The engine has two units (1,1'), each with a combustion chamber (4,4'), containing a piston. The chambers face outward, the pistons face inward. The units are located on housing (6). diametrically opposite to each other. The pistons are connected translatory moveable via a connecting rod (8,8'). The connecting rods engage on a cage (11) with slot (12) in the housing. The slot is at right angles to the rods. Two parts (15,15') of a central driven shaft extend into the housing at right angles to the rods. Each shaft part has a disc (14,14'), and the cage is located between the discs. A shaft (13) extends through the slot, and the shaft ends are held in the discs, eccentrically to the shaft parts. ADVANTAGE - High efficiency combined with small size and low weight.
