摘要 A transmission is disclosed for rotating the work supporting chuck assembly of a power driven threading machine at low and high speeds. The transmission includes a sun gear (24), a ring gear (56) coaxial with the sun gear (24) and axially shiftable between first and second positions relative to the sun gear (24) and to a fixed clutch component (68), and a plurality of planet gears (40) between the sun gear (24) and ring gear (56). The sun gear (24) is motor driven to provide the transmission input, and the planet gears (40) are connected to and drive an output sprocket wheel (5w) drivingly connected to the chuck assembly. The first position of the ring gear (56) provides clutched interengagement thereof with the sun gear (24) for rotation therewith, whereby the planet gears (40) rotate therewith to rotate the output sprocket wheel (5w) at a first speed equal to the speed of rotation of the sun gear (24). The second position of the ring gear (56) provides for clutched engagement thereof with the fixed clutch component (68) such that the sun gear (24) rotates the planet gears (40) relative to the ring gear (56), whereby the output sprocket wheel (5w) is driven at a second speed which is less than the speed of rotation of the sun gear (24). The ring gear (56) is axially shifted between its first and second positions through a yoke mechanism (74) which includes high speed and low speed springs (114,116) by which the clutched engagement of the ring gear (56) with the sun gear (24) is achieved with a first biasing force and the clutched engagement between the ring gear (56) and fixed clutch component (68) is achieved with a second biasing force which is greater than the first force.
