PURPOSE:To produce the subject high-purity alpha-(aminocyclohexyl)alkylamine in high yield by catalytically reducing an alpha-(aminophenyl)alkylamine under mild conditions. CONSTITUTION:An alpha-(aminophenyl)alkylamine of formula I (R denotes hydrogen or 1-5C lower alkyl group and the NH2 group of the phenyl group is located at the 2-, 3- or 4-position) is catalytically reduced in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst under conditions of (a) water in an amount of 1-15wt.% based on the raw material, (b) a hydroxide of an alkali or an alkaline earth metal in an amount of 0.5-10wt.% based on the raw material and (c) <=50kgf/cm<2> hydrogen pressure. Thereby, the objective alpha-(aminocyclohexyl)alkylamine of formula II (the NH2 group of the cyclohexyl group is located at the 2-, 3- or 4-position) is produced. |
