The thermal energy generation system uses solar cell modules coupled directly to the supplied load without active regulation and matching circuits. The electrical load comprises a series circuit of power semiconductor diodes e.g. Zener diodes, supported by a carrier structure to obtain effective heat transfer from the e.g. zener diodes to the surface of a heating module (2) coupled in series with a hot water storage tank for a domestic hot water supply. The temp. may be regulated by one or more thermo-switches (3) used to bridge one or more of the series diodes, the max. temp. limited by a further thermo-switch bridging the full diode circuit. USE/ADVANTAGE - For reducing hot water heating costs during summer months.
