A worm wheel (10) is mounted on a shaft (27) which has a crankpin (28,29) projecting from each end. These crankpins engage blocks (32,33) fitted between collars attached to the shafts (12,13) so that as the worm wheel (10) rotates an axial oscillation is imparted to each shaft (12,13) and consequently to the ink transfer rollers mounted on the shafts. The worm wheel meshes with a worm mounted on a shaft (10) which is driven by a gear wheel (11). The worm shaft (10) can be moved axially to bring the gear wheel (11) into or out of engagement with the driving wheel (19). USE/ADVANTAGE - The axial movements of the ink transfer roller spread the ink evenly over the printing forme cylinder. The axial movement can be generated when required by engaging the gear wheel (11).
