In a detoxication process, where blood is passed through an external active C filter, semi-permeable membranes are inserted into the external blood circulation path after the filter, to deliver O2 to the body fluid. A membrane oxygenator or similar unit foams the body fluid with molecular O2 after it has passed through the active C filter. The semipermeable membrane has a carrier fluid passed through, such as perfluorocarbon with combined molecular O2. The carrier fluid, with dissolved molecular O2 as the contact medium, is also the cleaning fluid within the semipermeable membrane. USE/ADVANTAGE - The system is for detoxication of body fluids, outside the body, esp. blood, plasma or lymph on endogenic or exogenic intoxication, and as a therapy. It is also used for severe septic or toxic conditions with high resorption rates in cell components such as burns, disintegration of tumours and protein on exposure to radiation.
