<p>A retractable leg rest for an aircraft chair which is stowed beneath the seat when not in use. The leg rest cushion (23) is mounted on a platform (22) attached at its rear ends (27) to linkage arms (25) mounted on brackets (20) beneath the chair. The articulated frame (24) includes two quadrant plates (29) pivotally connected at their centres (30) to the mounting brackets by means of a rod (31) extending beneath the front seat. Link members (32) connect the linkage arms to the quadrant plates so that when the platform is drawn outward from beneath the chair the quadrant plates are swung upwards by the link members and the linkage arms elevate the rear of the platform along an arcuate path clear of the front of the seat so that the rest is brought into leg support relationship with the seat of the chair. The angle of the leg rest is adjustable by means of notches (43) on the quadrant plate. </p> |
