Lighting device for macroscopic recognition of changes in skin - uses tubular needle inserted into hypodermis and laid parallel to epidermis with tip under area of examination
摘要
Light from a lamp (5) is conveyed by a flexible lightguide (4) ending in a bayonet connection (3) to an instrument whose tip (1) pierces an area of the skin (6) under local anaesthetic. The translucency of the skin above the tip is evaluated by a monitoring device (7). The tip itself carries a deflecting prism bonded to the end of the lightguide in a siliconised metallic tubular sleeve with a sharp edge. USE/ADVANTAGE - In dermatological diagnosis of tumours, the instrument can be made as small in dia. as a common hypodermic needle, minimising discomfort for the patient and damage to the skin and subcutaneous tissue.
