The evacuated tube (10) of an X-ray tube has a double focal point provided with a cathode having a number of coupled windings (16,18,20) coupled to a concentration electrode (14). The connection points of the windings are fed through a sleeve (24) that has diode elements (26,28,30,32). A cable coupling (34) connects the windings to a generator block (36) that has transformer stages (38,40) to provide the necessary interconnections.
