<p>At least one of the tows of newly spun filaments running over an opt. heated cylinder such as a galette for stretching or drying, and which are driven by being looped around the cylinder, is twisted in alternating directions, so as to prevent a tangled heaping up of the filaments on the cylinder. Pref. the degree of twist is also varied. Used to facilitate increased prodn. at higher speeds by the lengthening of the drawing cylinders, whilst preventing broken capillary threads, which continue to break, from building up into a mass which entails stoppages for clearning.</p> |
