PURPOSE:To shorten time for direction change and prevent a carriage from stopping by a method wherein the number of slits is counted in a direction change and a speed control is not performed during the counting. CONSTITUTION:When a carriage CA performs reciprocating movements, a flip-flop F2 is set since an output signal line lBB of a back counter BC counting the number of slits in a direction change becomes ''1'' in a drive to the backward direction. A clock from a signal line lCP is not input to a speed control circuit SC since a signal line lF is ''0'' then because of the drive to the backward direction, and a speed control is not performed. When the specified number of slits is counted in the back counter BC, the flip-flop F2 is reset to start the speed control. |
