A device for separating accumulator plates (30) possesses a magazine (31), in which the plates (30) to be separated are stacked one above the other. The magazine (31) is assigned a lifting means (32) for the plates (30) which has two mutually independent groups of lifting members (14), said means lifting the plates (30), which are fed in the magazine (31) from below, upwards in the magazine (31) to a removal station. Provided at the upper end (33) of the magazine (31) is a removal device (34) with a pushing finger (19), which pushes the respective uppermost plate (30) of the plate stack (15) contained in the magazine (31) laterally out of the magazine (31). The plate (30) is then transferred by a device (35) equipped with suction heads (23) to a linear conveyor (27) for feeding the removed plates (30) for further processing.
