PURPOSE:To provide a sealed alkaline storage battery provided with an explosion-proof safety mechanism, which functions reversibly against the gradual rise of the inner pressure with the ordinary battery reaction and which can cope with the quick rise of the inner pressure and which operates with the stabilized operation pressure. CONSTITUTION:In a sealing cover 5 for sealing an opening of a metal outer cylinder 1, in which a battery element is housed, a peripheral part 8a of an inner plate 8 and a peripheral part 9a of an outer plate 9 are caulked for bonding through a resin film 14, and an elastic valve body 13 is compressed to be filled in a valve chamber 10 formed between the central part of the inner plate 8 and the central part of the outer plate 9, and a valve hole 11 provided in the inner plate 8 and an exhaust hole 12 provided in the outer plate 9 are sealed. Notch grooves 15 are provided in the upper surface, the side surface and the lower surface of the outer plate 9, and the notch grooves 15 are filled with silicon oil 16. |
