PURPOSE:To obtain a stable photomemory element capable of rewriting and high density photorecording and long in record life by using an organic photochromic material forming plural associations each subjected to irradiation with ultraviolet rays or the like and treated after that or at the same time at each different heating temperature and having each different maximum absorption wavelength. CONSTITUTION:This photomemory element is obtained by forming as a recording layer a film of a supiropyrane compound represented by formula I on a glass substrate by the LB method and treating it after the irradiation with ultraviolet rays or at the same time at each different heating temperatures to form a j-association and an H-association different in the maximum absorption wavelength. Recording is carried out by destroying the association by irradiation with the light the same as that of the maximum absorption wavelength and multiple recording can be attained.
