PURPOSE:To provide phase changing-type optical recording device and optical recording method using it in which repetition characteristics in recording, reproduction and erasing of information can be sufficiently improved relating to optical recording medium using phase change. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium provided with at least a recording layer consisting of phase changing-type recording material is provided. In addition, a control means which applies a unit laser beam, applied for writing information on that optical recording medium and forming one record mark, by controlling so that, with an intermediate point X of irradiation time as a border, the energy amount Q2 of the second half 2 is larger than the energy amount Q1 of the first half 1 is provided. When one recording mark is formed by a multi-pulse recording method, at least the first pulse, relating to that multi-pulse laser beam, is controlled to satisfy the condition like above for application. |
