PURPOSE:To continuously produce the substrate for high-density information recording media by packing a packing material into the recessed parts facing the peripheral surface of the roll stamper, thereby substantially flattening the peripheral surface. CONSTITUTION:The flexible stamper 11 has the fine patterns corresponding to preformats on its surface. Fixtures 12-1, 12-2 are fixed to the rear surfaces at both ends of the stamper 11. The peripheral surface of a roll base material 11 is coated with the stamper 11. Detaining grooves 14 are formed on the peripheral surface of the roll 13 in such a manner that the fixtures 12 can be inserted therein. The packing material 15 packs in the spacings of the fixtures 12 and the detaining grooves 14 to substantially smooth the peripheral surface of the stamper 10. The coefft. of thermal expansion of the packing material is selected to be <=3X10<-4> deg.C to prevent bleeding out at the time of heating the stamper. Low melting metals of 450 to 200 deg.C, silicone resins, etc., are properly selected and used for the packing material. Resin pellets are heated to melt in an extruder 53 and the melt is pressurized and is extruded as a sheet 55 by a die 54. This sheet is pressed by the roll 52, the stamper 10 and the roll 51, by which the sheet 56 transferred with the preformat patterns is obtd. |
