<p>The substance to be treated, of fluid consistency, is continuously spread in the form of a thin layer onto the upper surface (41) of a heat exchange wall (40); the wall is heated to a temperature sufficient to effect the evaporation of water and/or other volatile constituents contained in the substance, and the solid and dry residues are collected as they are formed on the surface (41), by scraping thereof; the wall (40) is heated by means of the vapour resulting from evaporation, the vapour being mechanically compressed and then contacted with the lower wall surface (42), so that it condenses, the liquid condensate (104) being then evacuated. The extraction process is especially economical since the energy released by condensation is utilised, on the other side of the exchange wall, for evaporation. Application in the dehydration of various substances, especially liquid manure.</p> |
