Hydroelectric power station of the pumped type, comprising a turbine, coupled to an alternator supplying an electrical grid via a transformer in series with a circuit breaker downstream of the transformer, and a pump driven by a motor powered by the said grid through the said transformer and the said circuit breaker. The said circuit breaker is equipped with a device for temporary insertion upon closure of a resistor, characterised in that the ohmic value of the resistor lies between 500 and 100,000 ohms, the duration of insertion lying between 15 and 19 milliseconds. <IMAGE>
