LIQUID CRYSTAL PANEL AND LIQUID CRYSTAL PROJECTOR USING THIS PANEL

PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal panel of a high-brightness and high- contrast display and the liquid crystal projector. CONSTITUTION:A layer 15 having rugged sectional shapes is formed on the surfaces of at least either of picture element electrodes 14 and counter electrodes 22 of the liquid crystal panel facing a liquid crystal layer and high-polymer dispersed liquid crystals 23 are used for the liquid crystals. The layer 15 having the rugged sectional shapes acts as a diffraction grating if the recessed parts and projecting parts of the layer 15 having the rugged sectional shapes are formed to have regular periodicity. The scattering performance of the liquid crystal layer is improved even if the recessed parts and projecting parts of the layer 15 having the rugged sectional shapes are so formed as not to have the regular periodicity.
