PURPOSE:To deal with the partial defect of the form of character such as the difference and unevenness the form of the characters and the change of illuminance and to make a reliable numeric recognition. CONSTITUTION:A numeric verifying device 10 discriminating numeric from pattern information is provided with a processing section 20 for discriminating the numeric based on the pattern information and calculating the entire center of gravity g2, the upper-half center of gravity g1 and the lower-half center of gravity g3 of the discriminated numeric, processing section 30 for center of gravity characteristic vector generating the center of gravity characteristic vector consisting of the entire center of gravity g2, the upper-half center of gravity g1 and the lower-half center of gravity g3 calculated by the section 20, and discrimination section 40 specifying the verified numeric by comparing the center of gravity characteristic vector of the numeric generated by the section 30 with the standard vector representing the standard pattern. |
