PURPOSE: To enable inclusive two-way conversion between visually and graphically described corresponding representations by performing two-way conversion between a graphical formation query and a text form query through data structure. CONSTITUTION: A work station 1 is equipped with a nonvolatile storage device for a data base and a means for communication in a network 2, to which data bases 3 and 4 and a work station 6 at a remote place are connected. Then common data structure consists of plural lists which can be related and when the generation source of a query is an SQL(Structured Query Language) statement, the list contents of the common data structure are extracted by taking a grammaticaly analysis of a conventional SQL statement. Further, when the generation source of the query is a visual query, data for the list are acquired while a user performs graphic operation and modified into the common data structure. In this case, the conversion is bidirectional.
