PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as an antimicrobial agent in high purity and yield, by the ring closing reaction of a quinoline derivative. CONSTITUTION:A quinoline derivative expressed by formulaI(R<1> is H or lower alkyl; R<2> is H, lower alkyl which may have halogen or OH as a substituent group or lower alkanoyl which may have halogen as a substituent group; R<3> and R<4> are lower alkyl; X is H or halogen) is subjected to the ring closing reaction by the oxidizing method with an acidic substance, e.g. phosphorus oxychloride, phosphorus pentachloride, thionyl chloride or concentrated sulfuric acid, or by the cyclizing method in a solvent, e.g. tatralin, diphenyl ether or dimethyl ether, under heating at 100-250 deg.C to give the aimed compound expressed by formula II. |
