PURPOSE:To immediately sell charged information on a portable storage medium distributed to a user, after a sales contact is formed. CONSTITUTION:Free information of a storage medium, for instance, a CD-ROM installed in a CD-ROM drive in a CD-ROM system 200 can be read by a personal computer 100, and as for charged information of the CD-ROM, after a sales contract is formed, the information is read out after a password from a telephone receiving operation center 300 is received by a modem. To put it more concretely, a collation of the received password and a registered password of a system word memory is executed by the personal computer 100 and in accordance with a read-out instruction from the personal computer 100, the CD-ROM drive reads out the charged information from the CD-ROM. A cipher decoding IC executes cipher decoding of the read-out charged information, and thereafter, delivers the charged information to the personal computer 100. |
