PURPOSE:To obtain a reference liquid which is not affected by the potential generated in an ion selective electrode and obviates the generation of mold and consequent putrefaction by incorporating an electrolyte such as sodium chloride and antiseptic agent having the chemical structure expressed by the specific formula into said liquid. CONSTITUTION:The electrolyte and the antiseptic agent having the chemical structure expressed by the formula are incorporated into the reference electrode to be used at the time of measuring the activity of the specific ion in the liquid by using a differential method using the ion selective electrode. In the formula, R1, R2 respectively denote a hydrogen atom or lower alkyl group, R3, R4 respectively denote a hydrogen atom or lower alkyl group. However, there is no case in which R3, R4 simultaneously denote the hydrogen atom. The chlorine atom in the 4-th position may be substd. with a bromine atom in this formula. The antiseptic agent is exemplified by 3,5-dimethyl-4-chlorophenol; 3-methyl-4- chlorophenol; 3,5-diethyl-4-chlorophenol; 2,3,5-trimethyl-4-chorophenol. Sodium chloride, etc., are used for the electrolyte. |
