Cu alloys of compsn. (by wt.) 0.1-1.4 (pref. 0.5)% Cr, 1.5-4 (pref. 2)% Ti, upto 0.5% each of Si and/or Fe and balance Cu, is used for prodn. of rolled or drawn profiles for spectacle frame mfr. The alloy is pref. produced by high vacuum melting, using pure alloying components, and can be age hardened. A suitable alloy profile (1) is for framing the glass lenses of spectacles. ADVANTAGE - The alloy is Ni-free so that Ni allergy problems are avoided, has excellent strength, is elastically deformable, can be soldered and welded and is inexpensive to produce.
