The circuit establishes k connections free from branching and combination between m inputs and n outputs with four-position waveguide switches arranged in a ring, every third switch serving as a bridge. Every third bridging switch is linked to its neighbour, and all unoccupied connection points within the ring are linked to the inputs, and the others to the outputs, or vice versa. On the basis that any four channels may fail, a secure substitute circuit increases the reliability. USE/ADVANTAGE - In special instance of pure redundancy circuit, more transponder channels can be operated with less additional circuit complexity and without exceeding definite lower level of attenuation.
