Flow cell (2), e.g. for fibre dia. analysis by irradiation (13,15), has at least two transparent opposite wells (11,12) which together with two diverging walls (16,16a) define a divergent channel (14) for liq.borne fibres (19,20). The channel (14) operates to rotate fibres (20) towards the diverging walls (16,16a) and to a larger angle w.r.t. the flow direction.
